Our Journey:

Three Sisters, One Sacred Harmony

Eikona (pronounced ee-ko-na), meaning "image" in Greek, is more than just a musical ensemble – it's a lifelong devotion shared by three sisters: Stacey, Marika, and Chrysanthy. Raised in the heart of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Denver, Colorado, under the guidance of their father, the choir director of fifty years, and their mother, the organist, music has been the constant thread weaving through their lives.

From their earliest days in the Junior Choir, under the blessed direction of Dr. George Demos, to their formative high school years singing every part imaginable under their father's tutelage, the sisters embraced the rich musical traditions of their faith. This deep immersion, coupled with their individual musical studies, laid the foundation for Eikona.

Family and faith are paramount for Stacey and Marika, who are married to Greek Orthodox priests (Presvyteres), and Chrysanthy, who is married to a Retired Colonel in the Air Force. While joyfully navigating the demands of motherhood and family life, Eikona serves as their cherished ministry – a way to share their profound love for music, promote the sacred theology and hymnology of the Greek Orthodox Church, and preserve their inherited Christian musical traditions for generations to come.

For over 30 years, their voices have resonated in services and homes worldwide, offering inspiration, encouragement, and a renewed connection to the beauty of Orthodox worship. Inspired by their beloved Yiayia Aspasia, a dedicated Philoptochos choir member, and their extended musical family, the sisters chose the name Eikona, recognizing the universal calling to be "little icons" of the living God. Through their music and active participation in worship, they strive to embody this image and invite you to experience the same transformative grace.

What Makes Our Music Unique

Traditionally, Byzantine chant is sung by all-male choirs in Greek. Eikona offers a distinctive and accessible approach by performing these ancient hymns in English, infused with their American spirit. This allows listeners to connect more deeply with the meaning and beauty of the sacred texts, fostering a closer relationship with Christ in their daily lives and within the Divine Liturgy. Through their unique harmonies, Eikona strives to make the timeless beauty of Greek Orthodox worship resonate with new hearts and minds.
